Twinzer Time

Wataru-San is a real good customer from Japan who has a bunch of custom boards from Formula Energy , he was super specific in what he wanted for us to make him on his new Twinny custom order ! With little "twist" .

My Version of a modern "twinzer", read below .

He wanted a Twinzer , officially I don't have a "twinzer" in the range . After doing a lot research of fin placement and design of what board would suit Wataru needs .

I decided to make him a RP Twin ! Its super fun and fast small wave twin fin which by design is loose. This would allow me to slightly adjust the fin positions and add the twinzer tabs without compromising the good design aspects of the board , in fact in theory it should tighten it all up , with more drive and hold !

He was going to use  the Captain Fin Panda Twinzer set . Little extra fin , for  more hold !

A board for small weak Japanese beachbreaks !

I was lucky to catch up with Jimmy from Jimmy Surfboards a fine shaper / craftsman who has made it his passion to craft high end surfboards and get the "twinzer" perfected !

After a good chat with Jimmy who gave me all his history of trial and tribulations on his twinzer journey and now how has he dialled in his twinzers ! I came up with the RP Twin  with my spin on modified to suit the extra little side tabs !

In a surfboard factory its rare to today to find other shapers who are happy to share their knowledge and collaborate . Jimmy is a true artisan and puts everything into his craft !

Wataru has good quiver of boards including the MLB and Boy models !
This new RP Twin is done in a yelllow foam spray top and bottom . Dimensions are 5'7 by 19 3/4 by 2 1/2 (30.60 litres).
He wrote a nice note in Japanese , for those of you who don't know I am actually fluent in Japanese but cannot read it . Most Japanese people think I can read and write it but that real hard to learn .
Here is Wataru's  message  (via Google Translate) .
Hello 😄
The day before yesterday, I rode both the BOY and the RP TWIN for the first time. The BOY model was more responsive than the MLB TWIN, and it was easier to put in rails and the extension of the turns felt really good 🎶
I first rode the RP TWIN as a twin, but it moved too much, so I quickly got up and switched to a twinzer, which stopped the excessive movement, gave me speed, and made it easier to get to the top 😄 It's like a cross between a quad and a twinzer, and personally I prefer the twinzer to the twin and quad 🎶
Thank you for making both of them magic boards 😄
Next, I'll be ordering a classic single fin, so I look forward to your help then 🙇‍♂️

Onto our next project a classic single fin , stay tuned !
