Custom USC Nemo made for Hayashi-San, dimensions are , 5'10 by 19 7/8 by 2 3/8 . 28.82 litres , on the way to Japan.
The simple Nemo has just got better. Some major design changes, call it a version 2 model , but we just called it evolution , its just how surfboard design progresses.
The bottom shape or "concaves" are now single into double .
The original Nemo was designed with a single concave ,good for generating speed but the downside it lacks versatility and doesn't like marginal /choppy conditions. And when you think about a high performance fish you are often surfing it in average waves.
The single concave upfront provides a good planing surface for drive and the double concave in the rear loosens up the board. The double concave will actually channel the water into two streams through the fins and out the tail.
The single to double concave is the bottom contour of choice for most modern shortboards. It utilizes the strengths of each design while muting their disadvantages. It reduces the tracking of a single concave while still allowing for a fast ride and a loose feel to the surfboard.
Also giving the advantage of altering between a thruster or quad and seeing what set up works best for you .
