The Flower of Life is a name for a geometrical figure composed of seven or more evenly-spaced, overlapping circles. This figure, used as a decorative motif since ancient times, forms a flower-like pattern with the symmetrical structure of a hexagon.
The perfect form, proportion and harmony of the flower of life has been known to philosophers, architects and artist around the world. Pagans consider it to be sacred geometry containing ancient religious value depicting the fundamental forms of space and time.
Figures as prominent as Leonardo da Vinci are said to have ascribed significance to the Flower of Life and three similar symbols, called the "Egg of Life," the "Fruit of Life," the "Seed of Life".
The ‘egg of life’ is said to form the basis for music as the distances between the spheres is identical to the distances between the tones and the half tones in music. It is also identical to the cellular structure of the third embryonic division (The first cell divides into two cells, then to four cells then to eight). Thus this same structure as it is further developed, creates the human body and all of the energy systems.
The Flower of Life around the World
One interesting feature of the Flower of Life is that evidence of its importance can be found in almost every major culture around the world. It can be seen in temples within the Forbidden City of China, in ancient synagogues in Israel, in the Buddhist temples of India and Japan, in the City of Ephesus in Turkey, carved into rock in Assyria, in Italian art from the 13th century, and in Cordoba, in ‘la Mezquita’ in Spain.
The oldest known examples of the Flower of Life are believed to be those present in the Temple of Osiris in Abydos, Egypt. Most archaeologists maintain that they are at least 6,000 years old, though some have argued that it dates to the 2nd century AD. The most peculiar feature of the Flower of Life in Abydos is that it appears that it was not carved into the granite but instead may have been burned into the granite or somehow drawn on it with incredible precision. It is thought to possibly represent the Eye of Ra, a symbol of the authority of the pharaoh.

Limited water time of late means paddle fitness is lacking and Bali bound for a holiday , extra foam for paddle power was the priority to keep up with the grommets !
We made the shooter 6'6 by 21 3/4 by 2 7/8 and managed to squeeze 47 litres into the plan-shape.

Alien Shooter
USC Alien Step up 6'6 by 19 3/4 by 2 9/16th ( 34 litres ), custom for Tony ,heading for the "Coal Coast" in Southern NSW.
The purple colour on the deck on this Alien Step Up surfboard is actually an organic hemp material thats combined with recycled plastic bottles . The plastics have been broken down into small pellets , it goes by the name Hemp/ PET material .
Its a great alternate way to make a surfboard more durable, especially for heavy footed surfers who tend to crush / damage there decks, but it still retains those performance aspects of a modern surfboard.
Hemp is way more environmentally friendly than our traditional cotton .
For example you require about half the amount of water to produce hemp as you would if producing cotton. Hemp is a strong and reliable plant that grows very quickly. Not only that, hemp produces about 200% – 250% more fibre in the same amount of land compared to cotton.

Hemp Decks
Above is the Hemp cloth inlay on the deck , providing durability from a cool looking sustainable material that replaces another layer of traditional fibreglass cloth .
Hemp material is one of the strongest natural fibres on the earth .
Previously its been associated with heavy brown coloured low performance type surfboards . Good idea but to sluggish to ride and look a tad ugly .
But by combining the hemp/pet material with modern laminating techniques and using the performance based parabolic carbon rails of the USC range , you get a cool looking surfboard that not only will look better long term , with a more durable deck, with less foot wells and indentations, depressions and its totally UV protected from the Sun !
Without compromising any performance characteristics of modern performance surfboard.

Custom 5'4 for Will who stands around 4'2 and weighs in 30 kgs. Will has been killing it on the the DCD Demon model and at Six years old is progressing really quick ..

We based this custom of the Alien style fish plan-shape with your rounder nose and a lot of foam carried forward .
However Will wanted the look of a more traditional performance pointy nose surfboard .
We created a new outline , rounded of the nose , softened all the pointy dangerous bits to keep Mum happy avoiding any injuries and designed the Surfboard to allow Will to progress and grow into the board able to catch waves with ease and confidence but still able to duckdive and paddle out with his other frothing super GROMMET mates
And of course custom art work is the character Johnny Test ... The kids favourite cartoon at the moment !

Its hard to make out on the web but the rail spray is a custom deep purple which in the flesh looks really impressive along the carbon rails .

Its 27 1/2 litres .
Dai wanted a solid yellow foam spray with black drips running from the tail to the nose ....
We call this artwork Yellow Fever With Black Attack !
We are stoked with the end look and more importantly Dai is wrapped with his new shooter ! Looks great and under the arm its feels even better !
